Former Yampa and Oak Creek resident, Gloria Vonda Murray, died on Friday, July 17, 2020, surrounded by her family at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 87. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Steamboat Springs Cemetery. Gloria Vonda Nelson was born the daughter of David & Alta Nelson on August 25, 1932 near McDonald, Kansas. In the early 1940's, Gloria and her family relocated to Colorado where they resided at Twenty Mile Park. She attended school at Foydel Canyon and graduated from Oak Creek High School with the class of 1946. Gloria married Robert Jackson Holliday. The couple were blessed with seven children. Robert preceded Gloria in death on June 21, 1963. Gloria remarried Henry Donald Murray and the couple were blessed with one child. The marriage later ended in divorce. Gloria was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to love and know her. Gloria is survived by her son, William David Holliday of Grand Junction; four daughters: Betty Jean Wixom of Oak Creek, Ruth June Jeppesen of Hyrum, UT, Vagola May Richardson of Grand Junction, and Dawn Vonda Jarman of Lakeland, FL; and one sister, Vagola Bernice (Donald R.) Ward of Grand Junction. Gloria is further survived by twenty-three grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Holliday; two daughters, Dovis Gay Holliday and Robyn Sue Snodgrass; two brothers, four sisters and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Gloria's memory to the American Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
