Anita Mae Thompson, 81 of Attica, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

Anita was born on November 22, 1938 in Attica, to Frederick L. Sr. and Evelyn (King) Nagel. She married David W. Thompson in Auburn, Indiana.

Surviving is her mother, Evelyn Nagel of Willard, her husband of 63 years, David W. Thompson of Attica, her children, Donald (Kim) Thompson of Republic, Kay (Jack) Ward of Stow and Jeff (Leslie) Thompson of Massillon, seven grandchildren, Charrisa (Jerry) Johnson, Curt (Kalie) Thompson, Jackie (Dan) Cianchetta, Jeffrey and Bradley Ward, Alexis and Trent Thompson, five great-grandchildren, Addison, Owyn and Bryce Johnson, Kendall and Hoyt Thompson and two babies due in March and June. Anita is also survived by a brother, Frederick “Yogi” (Donna) Nagel of Huron and a sister, Virginia (Tony) Predieri of Attica.

Anita was a 1956 graduate of Attica High School. Anita retired after thirty-one years of bus driving for the Seneca East Schools. She then volunteered at the Attica Food Pantry and the Seneca East Library. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Attica. Anita enjoyed traveling with her husband to forty-eight states and beyond. She was an avid walker, an OSU, Cleveland Indians and Cavs fan who loved her pets. Anita’s greatest honor was becoming a grandmother. She attended every grandchild’s school event she could throughout the years and was known as “Grandma Candy”.

Funeral services for Anita will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR, Bloomville, with the Rev. Ron Spyker officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Monday, from 11:00am, until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Monday, at Attica-Venice Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca East Public Library or Stein Hospice of Sandusky.
