Benjamin Russell Cross, age 32, of Irving, Texas, formerly of Cadiz, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas. Born August 10, 1987, in Bedford, Texas, he was the son of Ronnie Cross of Irving, Texas, and Susan Steketee Taylor of Azle, Texas. Ben was a 2007 graduate of Trigg County High School and worked in the commercial construction industry. He loved spending time outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially riding his horse Cocoa. He was a former member of the Linton Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Noel Cross; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Cornette Taylor; and uncles, Terry Cross and Doug Steketee.
In addition to his father and mother, he is survived by his step father, Larry Taylor of Azle; his sister, Kathy Cross Tretheway of Derby, Kan.; his paternal grandfather, Frank Cross, Sr. of Cadiz; his maternal grandfather, Bruce Steketee of Cramerton, N.C.; nephews, Alec Tretheway and Luke Tretheway; a niece, Kylee Tretheway; and uncles, Donnie Cross and Frank Cross, Jr., both of Cadiz, and Glenn Steketee of Lexington, Ky.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 21, 2020. Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, with Bro. Mike Rambo and Bro. Brad Chalfin officiating. Burial will follow in Trigg Memory Acres.
