Sam graduated from Round Valley High School in 1964. He then continued his education at Arizona State University, completing a degree in education. He taught school in St. Johns and Round Valley for almost 30 years. Sam enjoyed teaching, reading, history and telling stories. He loved ranching, riding a good horse, a little rain, Taco Bell and a Heath Bar blizzard.
Sam is survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Karl) Ely, of Chino Valley, and Sammi Joy Udall, of Gilbert; two sons, Sterling (Sandra) Udall, of Queen Creek, and Sheldon Udall, of Eagar; eight grandchildren; four brothers: Stephen Udall, Scott Hall, Roy Hall and Roger Hall; and two sisters: Pamela Hall Hale and Rebecca Hall Hamblin.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Burnham Mortuary, 535 N. Main in Eagar. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior.
