Johnnie H. Lewis Jr., age 83, of Dardanelle died Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 19, 1937, in Danville to Johnnie Hooker and Lora Verda Eldridge Lewis.

He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church where singing in the choir was his passion that he enjoyed for many years. He worked at Kroger for 24 years and was an avid hunter and cattleman.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Edward and Eugene Lewis; three sisters, Leona Dobbs, Carolyn Rowe and Nina Boswell; and a granddaughter, Melissa Ellington.

Survivors include his wife of 53 1/2 years, Zell Rachel Lewis; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Ray and Tatiyana Lewis of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie Ruth and Ronald Ellington of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Dean and Laura Lewis of Danville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Chuck Caldwell of Arizona and Sue and Jim Henderson of Little Rock; two sisters-in-law, Betty Lewis of Danville and Iva Jo Lewis of Benton; three grandchildren, Daniel Ellington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Anna Ellington of Dardanelle and John Ellington of Dardanelle; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at East Point Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Pearce officiating and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Pallbearers will be Randy Ashcraft, Aaron South, Bruce Dickey, Bryan Hardaway, John White and Allan Lewis.
