Edward Paul Ites was born on December 27, 1938, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Richard Ites, Sr. and Anna Margaret (Bahr) Ites. His early years were spent on the farm with his parents and his brother Richard "Bud" and sister Betty. Edward graduated from Alden High School and started working at Weaver Construction in Alden, Iowa.
On October 12, 1957, Edward married Lois Gehrke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden, Iowa. Edward later worked at Farmland Foods for twenty-three years until the business closed. He had a couple other jobs before working for the Des Moines Register, where he retired after ten years.
Edward enjoyed golfing, playing cards, mowing his lawn, and going to many greenhouses to pick out just the perfect flowers for around the house. Edward loved watching sports especially cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a story-teller and loved talking to his great-grandsons about hunting and fishing back in the day.
Edward is survived by his wife, Lois Ites of Iowa Falls, Iowa; two daughters, Tiffany (Craig) Carper of Temecula, California and Toni Thornton (Michael Smith) of Azle, Texas; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tanya Andersen; his infant son, Tracy; brother, Richard "Bud" and wife Phyllis Ites; and sister, Betty and her husband Loren Larson.
