March 2, 1943 ~ July 21, 2020 (age 77)

Donald Tommy Barnhill was born March 2, 1943 to James Andrew Barnhill and Launa Merl Cole Barnhill in Scotland County as a twin.

He grew up on the farm and after retiring from driving a Trailways Bus, he worked various part time jobs but always returned to play in the dirt. Growing peas and sharing them with the community was a personal passion, even if his daughter Susan had to do most of the picking and shelling.

He was a courageous man who fought multiple battles against Cancer. Each time became more trying than the previous one but Donald was not someone to give up so easy. The last bout proved to be a formidable opponent and for a while, it looked like he would pull off another success. Unfortunately, the cancer had called in reinforcements and although he would not give in easily, God called him home to put an end to his suffering.

Preceded in death by his father James Andrew Barnhill, mother Launa Merl Cole, and brothers: James (Dinky) Andrew Barnhill, Jr, Herman Eugene Barnhill, twin Ronald Johnny Barnhill, and George Charles Barnhill.

He is survived by his wife Berlie Jane Blanks Barnhill, loving father to two daughters Felecia (& Harrington) Locklear, and Susan Barnhill, a son, Donald Tommy Barnhill, Jr., an exceptional grandfather to three grandchildren Ashley (& Nick) Blanks, Anthony Jay (& Brittney) Norton, and Jacoby Aaron (Faircloth) Barnhill and his friend Shoshawna Simmons, four great grandchildren Jayden Barnhill, Damien Norton, Kamron Norton and Bently Norton, two brothers: Joseph Manning (& JoAnn) Barnhill and Harold Ray (& Barbara) Barnhill, one sister: Edna Barnhill Kokochak and one sister-in-law SharonKay Henderson and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
