Donna Benson, 83, of Danville went home to her Savior Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Arcadia Care in Danville. She was born on May 4, 1937 the daughter of Geneva (Clyden) and Raymond Jennings in Danville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her brothers, William Jennings and Thomas Jennings; and her baby sister, Mary Jennings.

Donna is survived by her husband of 66 years, A. Floyd Benson; a brother, Michael (Darlene) Jennings; children, Steven (Mickie) Benson, Dianne Bowers, and Eric Benson; grandchildren, Jacob (Rachelle) Bowers, Andria (Bob) Pawelczak, Julie (Garland) Carter, Nicole Bowers, Lynn Bowers, Cailin Bowers, Steve II (Andrea) Benson, Laura (W.T.) Sager, and Sarah Benson; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Donna lived to serve her family and her community. She volunteered for the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, the Danville Food Bank. She led Cub Scouts and served as an election judge for many years.

She loved her family dearly and often volunteered for her children and grandchildren in their classrooms. She also opened her heart and home to foster children.

She planted a large garden and canned the produce to feed her family and to share with her neighbors.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, ceramics and flower gardening. She also was an avid reader.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Humrichous. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Donna’s name to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
