He was born on Sept. 11, 1933, in Anderson, to Russell Hughes and Corrine (West) Hughes.
Jack was graduated from Anderson High School in 1952.
He retired from Delco Remy after 42 years of service.
Jack served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681 F&AM. Jack was also a member of the Lapel American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Irma (Smethers) Hughes of Anderson; one daughter, Kellee Hays of Ijamsville, Maryland; sister, Patricia Riggs of Anderson; grandchildren, Benjamin, Amelia, and Charlie Hays of Ijamsville, Maryland. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020, at Brookside Cemetery, 2900 Brookside Road, Lapel, with the Rev. Susan Hobson officiating.
