David R. Backus, 67, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Cato, NY, passed away on Thursday, with his family by his side. Dave was an avid fisherman. He retired from Food Lion, where he was a meat market manager. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Roberta; three children, Tammy (Bill) Falconer of Baldwinsville, David (Diana) Backus of Chapel Hill, NC, and Melanie (Todd) Finn of Baldwinsville; six grandchildren, Eric, Brittany, Bailey, Darren, Ian and Jake; and his loving pet companions, Sasha and Dixie. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of First United Methodist Church, 17 East Genesee Street, Baldwinsville, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007, for family and friends. Gates Funeral Home, Inc., has care of arrangements.
