David R. Alderson Jr., 66, Ottawa, died Aug. 19, 2007, at the Olathe Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1940 to David R. and Bernice (Miller) Alderson in Bucyrus. He graduated from Louisburg High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964.

He married Vickie Wise Aug. 5, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives.

He had lived in Linn Valley and wintered in McAllen, Texas, before moving to Ottawa this month.

He was in sales and marketing before retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Louisburg American Legion and the McAllen Twin Parks Golfing Group. He enjoyed golf, art, gardening, traveling and restoring cars.

Survivors also include a daughter, Debra Maul, Vancouver, Wash.; his mother, Ottawa; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Medlen, Pomona, and Anita Shepard, Milwaukee, Wisc.; three stepdaughters, Rebecca Welch, Amsterdam, Mo., Cindy Kesterson, Linn Valley, and Loretta Folsom, Paola; a stepson, David Welch, Somerset, Mass.; four grandsons and eight stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, his first wife, Sue Alderson; and step-granddaughter Amy Kesterson.
