WHITE SETTLEMENT - Perry Ronald Jones was born in Ardmore, Okla. on April 25, 1938 to T.J. and Monnie Jones. He moved to Bowie, Texas in 1946 and graduated from Bowie High School in 1955. He attended Decatur Baptist College (DBC) where he met Bobbie Louise Brannon. In 1957, they both graduated from DBC and were married shortly after in Fort Worth where he lived for the next 63 years. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company until going to work for the US Postal Service in 1959. After nine years with USPS, he joined the US Postal Inspection Service where he served for 35 years until his retirement in 2003. He joined the Texas National Guard in 1954 and was placed on active duty in 1961 when the 49th Armored Division was mobilized in support of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was honorably discharged in 1962. During his early adult life, he enjoyed bowling and playing softball for Normandale Baptist Church. Later, he coached girls softball in White Settlement. He served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of White Settlement for most of the 1980s decade. He was a faithful member and deacon at Normandale Baptist Church and served as the volunteer treasurer for 35 years. He and Bobbie loved to travel, taking several cruises, a 15 day/7 country tour of Europe, and spent 3 weeks visiting their son and daughter-in-law while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching them on TV and in person. He was a 7-time cancer survivor and lived life to the fullest despite his many health concerns. He always wanted the last word, so "Toodles".
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his adorable wife of 58 years, Bobbie Louise Jones.
He is survived by his son, Steve Jones and wife, Leann; daughter, Ronda Wright and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Lauren Renshaw and husband, T.J., Zach Jones and wife, Vanessa, Bradley Wright and Kasey Wright; his five great-grandchildren, Piper, Parker, Preslee, Paxton and Jaxon; and a very special friend, Kay Hunt.
