Ernest W. Eubank, Winona Leader, Dies

WINONA, Miss. Ernest W. Eubank, prominent church, business, and civic leader of Winona, died Tuesday morning at the Grenada hospital of a heart attack following a two week's illness. He was 64.

Funeral services will be held at the Winona First Baptist church Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. C. B. Hamlet officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. M. Metts of Duck Hill, and the Rev. R. S. Lowe and the Rev. M. J. Peden of Winona. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Winona with Lee Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Eubank was born in Holmes County, the son of the late Thad and Cornelia Rogers Eubank, early settlers of Holmes County, but had spent most of his adult life in Winona. He was employed by Lee Funeral home as bookkeeper at the time of his death. A devout Bible scholar, he was a deacon in the First Baptist church, assistant teacher of the Men's Bible Class, Training Union leader, a member of the Woodmen of the World, and active in innumerable positions of service in his community.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bettie Mae Grantham Eubank of Winona; four sons, Waldo Eubank of Marks. Miss.; Maj. William L. Eubank of Camp Lejeune, N. C, a former all-Southeastern end at Ole Miss.; Sever L. Eubank of Nashville, Tenn., former Mississippi tennis champion and former principal of Central High school at Jackson; Donald Eubank of Winona; eight daughters: Mrs. James Pritchard of Grenada, Mrs. Sid Egger of Hazlehurst, Mrs. John Stuphin of Moorhead, Mrs. Cooper Gwin of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. H. C. Rose of Shreveport, La., and Misses Peggy and Patsy Eubank of Jackson, and Rose Mary Eubank of Winona; and one brother, Baxter Eubank of Lexington.
