As often happened to Civil War soldiers he became ill. He died in a field hospital near Helena, Arkansas on March 11, 1863. He was buried there. After the war, Union dead were moved to the National Cemeteries at Memphis, TN and Little Rock, AR. It is unknown which one he was buried, and probably marked as Unknown.
