1953 - 2018
William Harley Pierson was born the only son of Mel and Bernice Pierson in Blythe California on August 4th, 1953. In 1956, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho, later moved to Caldwell, Idaho and finally settled in Weiser, Idaho in 1961. Other than a few short periods, Bill lived in Weiser the rest of his life. Bill passed on June 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister Barbara. He is survived by his older sister Linda Nichols, his wife Cari and nieces Melissa, Teresa, Kristin and Stephanie.
Bill loved everything outdoors. Hunting, fishing, trapping….he ate what he shot and he ate what he caught. If he wasn't actually out doing it, he was reading about it or planning his next adventure. And his enthusiasm was contagious. When you were lucky enough to tag along with Bill you just knew you were in for a good time. And even if you didn't come home with any fish or fur, the experience was always well worth it just having spent time with him. He was happy by nature and an eternal optimist and to actually anger him took real effort or damn poor judgement.
Sometimes Bills zest for life took him outside the boundaries Mel and Bernice had for him. Hell, let's be honest, sometimes it took him outside the boundaries the laws of the State of Idaho had for him. But if there was one thing Bill was not, it was malicious. He always got through troubles with a chuckle and a wry smile that made you wonder why you thought it was such a big deal in the first place.
On June 22nd we lost a truly free spirit. He lived for the moment and made the most of it. In his last days he told one of his closest friends "looking back I wouldn't change a thing". Those words are uttered by many, but for those who were close to Bill, you knew it as a simple truth.
