Mona June Jones, age 78 passed away Sunday morning on July 19, 2020 at her sister’s home. She was born Oct. 11, 1941 to Cordelia Tucker Jones and Everett Jones at Ritner, KY.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Arnold and Donald Jones, and one nephew David Jones. She was married to Carl Jones Nov. 1, 1974; he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother Bronnie (Carolyn) Jones and one sister Wanda (Ray, deceased) Carpenter. Also surviving is brothers-in-law, Troy Jones and Haskel Jones and sisters-in-law, Betty Sumpter and Lois Boyer.
Also surviving is Dylan Hughes, who was like a grandson to Mona, two nieces Judy (Roger) and Cyndi (Tim) Black, nephew Craig Jones (Martha and Josh) and niece by marriage Teressa Jones. She is survived by a host of family and friends.
She was accepted by Christ at an early age and was a member of Greenhill Baptist Church.
Her poodle dog, Cricket, will be laid to rest with her at Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, KY.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2020 between 12 pm – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
