DAVID S RAY

David (Dave) S. Ray, 92, of Lansdale, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa M. Ray.
Born July 22, 1927 in Sonora, California he was the son of the late Oswald and Marie Christine (Davis) Ray. He attended and graduated Placer High School (Class of 1945) in Auburn, California, running track. He was a Boy Scout as a youth which carried on into adulthood with his sons and grandsons. He joined the Navy right out of high school and met his future wife at a USO dance at Willow Grove Air Base. They married November 12, 1949 at Saint Stanislaus Church in Lansdale, resided in Hatfield until deployment to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with the United States Navy. After having a son, they returned to the States and resided in the Hatfield/Lansdale area. After having three more children, the family settled in Hatfield. David was a lifelong parishioner of Saint Maria Goretti Parish, volunteering at the Church as an usher at Sunday Mass and various activities. He was an active member of the Hatfield American Legion and held a variety of posts, including Post Commandeer and was deeply involved in the Forty and Eight (40&8).
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for Bell Telephone as a PBX Repairman (lineman) out of the Line Lexington, PA Center. He worked there until retiring but continued to work for several years as a consultant for various individuals and organizations. After retirement, he took up golf and played in several leagues throughout the area for many years.
He is survived by his four children, Richard (Linda), Karen (Kenneth), Susan (Victor) and Kevin (Gloria) and 10 grandchildren. David maintained a close relationship with his California family especially enjoying the annual Davis Family reunion and many visits throughout his life to the West Coast.
David was happiest when surrounded by his family, reading a good book, eating ice cream and relaxing in his recliner.
