Bonnie Louella Pierce, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from her home. She was born in Sullivan County, TN and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Maggie Smith Miller.

Bonnie was an adoring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and foster mother. She was a God fearing woman of the Baptist faith. She was a caregiver and loved taking care of others with a servant’s heart. She was an honorable and faithful wife.

Bonnie was known to many as a hometown missionary. She loved baking and was a master of sourdough bread and cake baking. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, being around children and was an amazing cook.
In addition to her parents Bonnie was preceded in death by a son; Gregory Allen Pierce; a sister, Martha Lyon and brothers; Sherrill, Phillip, Wayne, William, Leighton and Dana Miller.

She leaves behind a legacy to carry on her memory. In addition to her husband, Dayton Albert Pierce she also leaves behind a son, Jonathan M. Pierce and wife Rita; a daughter, Melinda D. James; three grandsons, Jonathan D. Pierce and wife Anna, Nathaniel Pierce and Jesse James; one granddaughter, Tiffany James; three great grandchildren, Vance James, Vivian Pierce and Imogen Louella Pierce; two brothers, Marvin Miller and wife Shelvie and James Miller and wife Mary. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

A service to honor the life of Bonnie Louella Pierce will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, TN. A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5:00pm- 7:00pm.
A Graveside service will be held at Sunrise Cemetery Bluff City, TN on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 10:00am. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45am. Active pallbearers will be Johnathan D. Pierce, Nathaniel Pierce, Robert Miller , Mark Miller, Gary Miller and Michael Miller.

In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Sinking Creek Baptist Church Log Church Restoration Fund. Address: 2313 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601 Phone: (423) 928-3222.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bonnie’s caregivers, Doris Nelson and Shannon Cole for their love, care and generosity in the time they cared for Bonnie. A thank you is also extended to the friends and family who sent their thoughts and prayers as well as visited with Bonnie during her illness.

At this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and recently issued local guidelines it is mandated that funeral attendees to wear a mask at all times.
