Joseph Gott was the son of Daniel Gott and Hannah Norwood.

Joseph married Lydia Barton in 1790. Lydia died in 1831. On 22 September 1834, Joseph married Lucy Richardson. His name was on the list of sailors lost in the December storm of 1839 in Massachusetts. Aboard the Eliza and Betsey schooner out of Mt Desert. The ship sank at its anchor with Peter and Alpheus, and Joe Gott.
all lost at sea.
