Edgar Ray Sanders, age 88, a lifetime Valparaiso resident, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007 at Chicagoland Christian Village. He was born October 12, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the son of Edgar Ray and Marjorie (Soule) Sanders, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1937, served with the U.S. Army during WWII, was a member of American Legion Post #94 in Valparaiso and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He had worked as a machinist with McGill's Manufacturing then Urschel Laboratories where he served as an executive until 1986. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Hirsch) Sanders in 1996; his parents; and one brother, Jack Douglas Sanders. Survivors include: one brother, Eugene Sanders of Phoenix, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Sydney Sanders of Oregon. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, IN. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, with Rev. Donald Williams officiating.
