Johnnie Lewis Richardson, Sr., 98, of Lexington, widower of Annie Frick Richardson, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on July 18, 2020 at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Medical Center.
Born June 30, 1922 in Irmo, SC, he was the son of the late Ambrose Augustus and Lula Elizabeth Younginer Richardson. Johnnie loved his country and was a proud Army Veteran having served during World War II. After completing his service to our Country, he was employed with General Electric and MEPCO Electric where he retired after many years of service. Johnnie truly enjoyed the outdoors; he loved cutting grass, wood and spending time in his garden. He was an avid Clemson fan and enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel music. He was a member of Open Hearts Fellowship Church where he and his wife Annie served as Greeters and in many other church activities.
Johnnie is survived by a daughter, Shirley R. Dover of Lexington; two sons, Johnny Richardson, Jr. and David Richardson both of Lexington; two grandchildren, LTC Paul J. Painter (Marsha) of Hawaii and Blaine Richardson (Alyssa) of West Columbia; five great grandchildren, Christian, Elijah, Madison, Hartley and Georgia. He also has a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family. Johnnie was predeceased by five brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 21th at Woodridge Memorial Park with Pastor David Allen officiating. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington from 11 AM until 12 Noon on Tuesday.
