Ina was called home to heaven on Tuesday, July 14, at the age of 96. She was born in Afton, Oklahoma to Arthur and Annie Lula Wilbanks. Ina, husband Everett Ward and two daughters, Oma and Marsha moved to Stockton in 1940. She held various office positions until WWII began. During the war Ina was secretary to the Provost Marshall at the Port of Stockton. She processed prisoners of war who were kept at the San Joaquin fair grounds. After the war Ina attended Snyder Vocational School and became a cosmetologist.
Ina leaves behind to miss her smile and flashing blue eyes a daughter and son-in-law Oma Lou and James E. Lucas. She loved being "Nonnie" to five grandchildren, Nancy Hubbard (Judd) of Modesto, Carrie Florence (Bryan), Sherry McGee of Stockton, Lorie McGee of Sacramento and Bryan Lucas of Stockton. Eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Berea Baptist Church, 4957 Quashnick Road in Stockton, a luncheon will follow.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to San Joaquin Activity Center Program Fund, 1258 S. Airport Way, Stockton CA 95206. Rocha's Mortuary entrusted to the care of arrangements. For more information please visit www.lodifs.com
