AUSTIN, Leon A. Age 83, of Medford passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at the Medford Care Center.

Born in Detroit, MI he resided in Dover, NJ for 35 years before moving to Toms River 7 years ago.

Leon was a US Navy Veteran serving his country during WWII. One of his several accommodations included a letter of recognition from President Harry S. Truman for heroic efforts. He retired as a Safety Engineer from Suburban Propane Gas in Whippany, NJ after 33 years. Mr. Austin was a member of the American Legion of Toms River.

Son of the late Alfred and Lucy Austin, brother of the late Lawrence Austin beloved husband of 60 years to the late Wilma "Billie" L. Austin, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia K. and James J. Pasko of Medford, 2 grandchildren Erik and Sarah, 3 brothers, Ira, Junior, and Jack Austin, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, July 17, 2003 from 6-8PM at the MATHIS FUNERAL HOME, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ 08055. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 10AM from the funeral home. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Leon's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter Robert Morris Building, 100 N. 17th St., 4th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
