Roger Lee Wagner,79, of Valders, beloved husband and best friend of Joyce (Schinker) Wagner for 58 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on June 6, 2017. Roger was born in Sheboygan to Edwin and Amanda Wagner on July 12, 1937. Roger attended Sheboygan schools. He graduated from Central High School in 1955. Roger worked as a steam fitter for Optenburg Iron Works for approximately 20 years. In 1973, Roger and Joyce founded Wagner Excavating, Inc. This business started with two pieces of equipment and two employees which has grown into the thriving company that it is today. Roger developed countless relationships with people he has met along his journey; going to races (NASCAR, go-kart, etc.), business associates, car shows, riding his Harley, driving his classic cars, or playing on the lake. Besides his wife Joyce, Roger is survived by his two daughters, Kim (Robert) Mertz and Kelly (Gregg) Wagner, his grandchildren; Matthew (Candice Russell) Mertz, Rebecca (Ryan Goebel) Mertz, Allison Wagner, and Derek Wagner, his great-grandchild Brynn Mills; his sister, Karen Kober, extended family Robert and Joan Boston, Jack and Jean Boston, Ruth Macier, James Zimbal, Vincent and Carla Schinker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Lillian Boston Wagner, step-brother Bill Boston, brothers-in-law Dale Macier, James Kober, and sister-in-law June Zimbal.
