She worked at the Fairfield Hills Psychiatric Hospital in Newtown, Park City Hospital, and Shamrock Services located within the General Electric Headquarters until she retired from the latter in 1998. She joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in October 1980 and was a longtime member where she served on the Senior Choir, Pastors Aide Society, Utility Committee, Scholarship Committee, Community Gift Shop and in the Kitchen of Hope.
She is survived by her loving daughter Samone Wright, a nephew who grew up with her as a brother Charles Douglas Braxton, two special nieces, Angela (Samuel) Bethea and Adrienne (Daryal) Brooks. She is further survived by several other nieces and nephews, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.
The family wants to thank the many doctors and nurses at Yale New Haven Hospital Neurological ICU and in the Bridgeport Hospital Surgical ICU who provided care for her during her recent illness. A very special thanks goes out to Dr. Jeff Kwan, Dr. Jon-Paul Ayala, Critical Care Nurses Shawna Hall, RN, BSN and Katy Biscone, RN for all going over and above and being the eyes and ears for the family during a time when we were not allowed in and providing her the very best of care.
The viewing will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604 with the funeral service commencing immediately after. Burial will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport.
