Judy Kay Karnes-Hughes, 70, of Avon Park, FL formerly of Accoville, WV departed this life July 12, 2020 at Advent Health Hospital in Sebring, FL after a hard fought battle with heart failure. Judy was a 1967 graduate from Man High School. She served the community for many years working as a receptionist for Community Health Foundation until the doors closed and she was able to retire. She loved cooking, gardening, taking care of her family and a good laugh over coffee with friends. She always sacrificed her needs for the betterment of her family. Judy will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother who always had a smile even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength. She never complained and always looked to a brighter future.

She was born October 2, 1949 in Logan County, WV to the late James Karnes (Deceased) and Ida Mae Stapleton-Karnes (Deceased). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Mae Karnes (Deceased); multiple in-laws; and one great grand daughter, Emily Hughes (Deceased).

Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life, her husband of 48 years, Lowell Hughes; her two daughters, Shelley Hughes-Carpenter & husband Jeff Carpenter of Salisbury, NC and Jessica Hughes-Hopson of Avon Park, FL; one grandson, Adam Hughes of Columbus OH; one granddaughter, Katie Lowe & husband Matthew Lowe of Robinette, WV; one brother, James Karnes of Frostproof, FL; two nephews, James K. Karnes and familyof Brensbach, Germany, and Robert E. Karnes and family of Darmstadt, Germany; one niece, Jennifer U. Karnes and family of Koeln, Germany; two brothers-in-law, Michael Hughes & wife Margo Hughes of Globe, AZ and Curtis Hughes & wife Karen Hughes of Grove City, OH; and four sisters-in-law, Carol Pierce (John. Kabus) of Cape Coral, FL, Pat Hughes-Solomon & husband Kenny Solomon of New Boston, MI, Ann Hughes of Man, WV and Marlene Hughes-Gross of Zimmern, Germany; her five great grandchildren, Abi Lowe, Grace Belcher, Mattie Belcher, Hayley Goins and Gavin Hughes; several life long friends that she loved dearly and considered a huge part of her family, Mary Jo Imes, Fredericka Mitchel, Carol Belcher, Sandy Caudill Lusk, Martha Robinson, and Crystal Hatfield.
