James Trace “Catfish” McKee, 83, of Bellefonte, died peacefully Friday morning, July 17, 2020, in the Community Hospice Care Center.

He was born December 1, 1936, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late William L. and Opal Rice McKee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John L. McKee

James was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School and the University of Kentucky. He retired following a long career with Ashland Oil as Vice President of Supply and Distribution. He served honorably in the United States Army Reserves, was a member of Bellefonte Country Club and was a founding member of the Quiet Corner at Holiday Point.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Teri Shanahan McKee of Bellefonte; niece, Jane (Bob) Slater; nephews, John (Anne) McKee and David (Michele) McKee; 11 great nieces and nephews; and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Mike Dennis officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the cemetery.
