Laura Menefee Morris, 99, of Caddo Mills, died Tuesday, July 14 in Mesquite, Texas. She was born in Bonham, Texas on July 26, 1920 to John W. Menefee and Minnie Rebecca Sullins Menefee . She married Robert Allen Morris on January 21, 1942. They were married for almost 56 years before Allen passed away in 1998. They built a home in Caddo Mills in 1949 where they raised 4 children, Mary Allen (Sissy), Henry (Buddy), Ronald (Ronnie), and Debbie. Laura worked at Haggar Mfg. Co. for over 25 years as a seamtress, until she retired to care for Allen. She was a long time dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills where she enjoyed singing in the choir, volunteering at Vacation Bible School and attending Bible class. Laura remained in her home in Caddo Mills until 2011 when she moved into The Colonial in Greenville. She lived there for several years and enjoyed working puzzles, playing Bingo and making crafts. As her health declined, she was moved to Cambridge Court in Mesquite where she remained until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Allen Morris, brother Eugene Miller, and her grandson James Allen Boren. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry “Buddy” and Eunice Morris of Mesquite and Ronald Lee and Diane Morris of Caddo Mills; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Allen and Terry Boren of Garland and Debbie and Jim Schmuck of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Henry Morris, Ronald Morris, Terry Boren, Jim Schmuck, J.C. East and Edgar White.

Visitation will be held at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills , Friday July 17th from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Caddo Mills on Saturday, July 18th at 10:30 am, with Shane Davis officiating. Interment is at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
