Gary D. Simmons, 75-year-old Vinita resident, died on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the St. Francis Vinita Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willard Earl “Dub” Simmons and Thelma Lorraine (Oxford) Simmons. Gary served his country in the United States Army from August of 1965 to July of 1967. He worked in the kitchen at the Eastern State Hospital in Vinita for several years, the Ross-Martin Company in Tulsa, and had a couple of sandwich shops in Muskogee for a time. Gary was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Vinita.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dick Simmons.
Gary is survived by a daughter, Lisa Bradford of Leland, North Carolina; brother, Jerry Simmons of Oologah and three grandchildren.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ghormley Cemetery near Pensacola, with Pastor Skip McClain officiating.
