Carolyn was the daughter of Carl Winston and Frankie Felton. She was educated in the Macon County School System and was a Class of 1966 graduate of D. F. Douglas High School in Montezuma, Georgia. After school, she relocated to Yonkers, New York where she lived for several years. She later returned home to Macon County. She was a member of Saint James CME Church in Marshallville, Georgia where she was a member of the Music Ministry. She enjoyed music, singing and dancing.
She was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Janet Winston and 1 son, Harvey Winston.

4 Sisters: Brenda W. Edwards, Annette Simons, Sandra Griffin(Ivey) and Juanita Triplett(Tony).
2 Brothers: Carlton Argo Winston(Joyce) and Ronald Winston.
3 Aunts: Lucille Poindexter, Caura Felton Johnson and Mildred Zachary.
