Lynette R. Brown, 54, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on August 30, 2007.

She was born on May 30, 1953, in Taylor, Tex., to Edward and Jessie M. Black. She grew up and attended school in San Antonio, Tex., before moving to Austin, Tex., to begin her professional career.

Lynette is survived by her husband, Freddie Brown of Austin; her mother, Jessie M. Black of San Antonio, Tex.; her daughters, Antoinette Black, Tracy McCradic (William), Monick Hamlin, and Angela Brown, all of Austin, Tex., her sister, Jo Lang Bridge (Benny) of Lake Jackson, Tex.; her brothers, Ronald Black and Donald Black, both of San Antonio, Tex., four grandkids; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts (special aunt, Mae Etta Dickey).

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Black, grandparents, Bernice Johnson Nelson and Henry Wilson, Sr., Rev. Robert Nelson.

Special thanks to Hospice of Austin and her wonderful nurse Alice Jefferson and special worker Janet Butler for their kindness and compassion.

Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church located at 5900 Cameron Road on Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at the City of Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, Texas. [Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 9/2/2007.]
