Obituary
Idella West Silva, of Culpeper, VA, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at her residence. She was born to Pauline and Dent West, June 4, 1919 in Fairmont, WV, the eldest of thirteen children.

The family moved from Fairmont to Mitchells, VA, where Idella graduated from Mitchell's High School in 1937 and worked in retail for many years. Her marriage, in 1940, to Maury W. Fincham, provided one son, Maury W. Fincham, Jr.

By 1957, Idella had been divorced and had moved to California; there, she met and married Edward Silva of Pacific Grove, and she developed an active interest in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as travelling. She served as President of the local women's chapter of the V.F.W. and as District President of that organization.

A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R), Idella was also passionately interested in genealogy. She volunteered for many years in the art development of local schools, always encouraging young people in their study of art, as she was an avid painter herself.

Surviving Idella is her son; Maury W. Fincham, Jr. and his wife Beulah of Culpeper, VA, granddaughter; Karen B. Fincham of Harrisburg, PA, grandson; Andrew S. Fincham of Yorktown, VA and great-granddaughters; Sunny Blue and Jetty Gale Fincham, also of Yorktown, VA, sisters; Rebecca Myers and Daisy Hoffman of Culpeper, VA, Mary Kilby of Orange, VA, Elvira Leavell of Bath, NC and Nancy Hardesty of Fairmont, WV, brothers; Edward West of State College, PA, Harry West of Granada Hills, CA and Robert West of Unionville, VA, as well as four step-children, numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Pauline and Dent West, and two husbands, Maury W. Fincham and Edward Silva, Idella was predeceased by four of her siblings, Pete West, Olive Jenkins, Albert West, all of Culpeper, VA, and Paul West of Richmond, VA.

A memorial service in her honor will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Clore-English Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA with a time of visitation one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Avenue, Suite B, Winchester, VA 22601 and / or Salem Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1254, Culpeper, VA 22701. Online condolences may be offered by visiting clore-english.com. The family has entrusted Clore-English Funeral Home with these arrangements.
