Memorial services for Aletha Freet Alexander, 72, of DeLand, Fla formerly of Cedar Falls, will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Allen Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, Fla. The body was cremated. She died after a lengthy illness Monday (Aug. 3) at University Convalescent Center, DeLand, Fla. She was bom June 20, 1915, at Traer, daughter of Lyman and Mary Martindale Freet.
She married Elmer Norman and they were later divorced. She later married Fred Alexander. Mrs. Alexander was assistant principal at Plainville Senior High, Hempstead, Long Island, for 28 years. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors include her husband; a son, Wayne Norman of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Denise Norman Belleck of Jordan, Utah; two step-sons, Ted Alexander and Phillip Dean Alexander, both Huntington, Long Island; a step-daughter, Gay Schenck of Philadelphia, Pa.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a sister, Cleone Read of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Alpha Freet, Herman Freet and Richard Freet, and a half-sister, Lula Freet Cooper.
