SLUSHER, James Vernon Sr, 76, of Oregonia, OH passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Born to James Herbert and Sarah Angeline (nee: Jenkins) Slusher on June 15, 1944 in Lebanon, OH. Vernon was a veteran of the Air Force and retired as Master Sergeant in 1999 after more than 35 years of service. He then worked for 5 years with the Little Miami School District.

Vernon and Rhodena G. Browning were married August 26, 1967. Vernon and Dena enjoyed boating, fishing, playing croquet, gardening and opening their home to friends and family.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Bob and Dennis, sister, Dolly Armstrong, and his granddaughter, Shae Braxton Huffman. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, his three sons, James (Sarah) Slusher of Xenia, OH, Carl (Angela) Slusher of Reading, and Kevin (Rebecca) Slusher of Morrow, three sisters, Betty Daughty of California, Pauline Reeder of Dayton, and Bertha Leon of Wisconsin, six grandchildren, Nathan (Emma) Slusher, Shelby Smith, Draven Slusher, Nicholas Slusher, Tyler Stuttman, and Julia Slusher and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 5-7 PM at the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, private services will be held by the family the following day. Pastor Josh Bevan officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery.
