Gene Allen Long a long time resident of Hermiston Oregon Passed away at Kadelac Medical Center, In Richland Washington on Saturday 11, July 2020. He was born in Butte Montana to Vicki Noreen (birthname)Couture/(adopted name)Weller/(married names)Long, Reed, Kinzer, and Englander. and Donald Edward Long both long time residents of the Hermiston area. Gene was 51 years old at the time of his death and was way to young. Gene spent apart of his life in the Pendleton and Umatilla area. He went to high school in Boardman and graduated from Riverside High in 1987. At his time of death he was working for Bert's auto salvage and towing as acting manager and had been there for 20 years. He loved driving the tow truck and helping people. Gene was the kind of person who had many projects going at once and was very talented and it showed in everything that he did. His artistic abilities were unmatched and his creations were endless. He loved hunting, fishing and especially guns.

Gene is survived by his wife Dawn Monroe/Long, daughters Keshia Richmond Long and Samantha Gene Long and step son Darren Gibson and Step mother Linda K Long of Hermiston and Mother in-law Linda Monroe of Hermiston. Also, Sister Dawn Long/Braun (Trampus)of Winterville North Carolina, Brothers Elton Long (Arin) of Colorado, Half Brother, Jason Kinzer (Cherry) of Milton Freewater Oregon and Step Brother, Timothy Reed (Rosemary) of Pendleton Oregon, Kathy Reed, of Adams Oregon, Naomi Millspaugh (Randy) of Pendleton Oregon and Leona Foster (David) of Arlington Oregon. He had many nieces and nephews and will be missed. The world is a less greater place without him in it. He is preceded in death by his mother Vicki Noreen Englander and Father Donald Edward Long, Father-in-law Mike Monroe and brother-in-law Jason Monroe. Due to the COVID-19 Corona Virus state mandated restrictions a private family celebration of life was held at the home of Linda Monroe. An event for the public will be held at a later date. For genealogy purposes it is important to note that Gene did not die of COVID-19 or any complications due to the virus. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston Oregon is in care of arrangements.
