Vern attended Lake High School and graduated in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964, in Vietnam all of 1962. Vern worked at Libbey-Owens-Ford for 30 years. He retired in July of 1997.
Vern is survived by his wife, Rita (Grabenstetter) Tucker, married on May 10, 1969; his 3 daughters, Melinda Tucker, Renee Tucker, Tammy (Kyle) Diebert and daughter, Julie Wilson, and his cousin, Ruthanne Silva, who was like his sister; grandchildren, Brad Below, Cassaundra Fassold, Kyle Diebert, Jr. and many nieces and a nephew and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Vern loved dogs, fishing, playing cards and going out to eat with good friends and family, going on trips and also playing Words With Friends with his grandson, Brad.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Monday, May 16, 2016, from 3-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St. in Perrysburg where family will greet friends after 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wood County Humane Society.
