Betty was born to Ray and Margie Sandeen in rural Minnesota. Like most girls of that era she grew up as a farm girl and was proud of that experience. She attended Hinckley, Mn. High School where she met a neighbor, Raymond Baldwin. They were married June 6, 1946 while Ray was serving in the US Army. In 1947, Ray and Betty moved west to Portland, Or. where their first child (Robert Ray) was born. In 1949, Donna Marie was born.

From Portland the Baldwins' moved to Salem, Or. This was their home for several years until Ray took a promotion and moved the family to Seattle, Wa. Most of Raymond's immediate family were already settled all through the greater Seattle area. During the next ten years they lived in the Kenmore neighborhood; located on the north end of Seattle. About this time they divorced and went on to live separate lives each with new spouses. But, in 1988 they both found themselves divorced again so they began a renewed relationship and in 1991 Ray and Betty remarried for good.

Sadly Raymond passed away in 2003 from a prolonged illness. Betty enjoyed living independently for several years but in 2017 she sold her house in Salem and moved in with her daughter, Donna. Betty lived the remaining years in a wonderful setting where she was close to many of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty truly loved her family and they did her. In 2020, she underwent two significant health setbacks. Her last month was under the care of Providence Hospice. Betty quietly succumbed to her poor health while at home.
