He was born on October 25, 1945 to Theodore Kermit Kern and Laura Freeman Kern. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Brett Kern, his brother Kermit Leon Kern, and sisters, Norma Webb, Carolyn Dunn, and Agnes Kern.
He was a 1963 graduate of West Montgomery High School, and also served our country in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret. After his service in the Army, he worked at Eveready/Energizer in Asheboro where he retired. He was also the owner/operator of Montgomery Recycling in Troy. He enjoyed working with Caraway Speedway in his spare time. David had a contagious jovial laugh that was unmatched. He will be missed at family gatherings. He is gone, but never ever forgotten.
He is survived by his loving family; daughter Julie Kern of Asheboro; son, Brian (LeeAnn) of Franklinville; sisters, Linda K Beane of Mt. Gilead, Nona Ruth Maness of Star, and Vickie K. Cranford of Asheboro; grandchildren Ben, Tyler, and Malea; and his beloved furry companion Isabelle. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who also loved him dearly.
