Jerry F. Maples passed away on July 12, 2020 He was 81. Jerry was born to Fred and Alta Maples and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1957. He remained in Fairfield and retired from US Steel with over 40 years of service. He was a long-time member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In his last weeks, he was surrounded by family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marty Maples; his children, Jerrie (Jeff) Burns, Tony (Tammie) Maples, John (Chasity) Maples, Ron (Taunya) Guthrie, and Jennifer (Brett) Hamrick; sisters Donnis (Joe) Terry and Rhonda (Randy) Graves; brother Van (Donna) Maples; numerous grand-children, great-grandchildren, friends, and family. Jerry will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, proud dog dad to Lily, connoisseur of ice cream, proud patriot and US Air Force veteran. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A Mass of Celebration will be Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church,1013 30th Street Ensley, AL 35218 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Central Alabama or John Carroll Catholic High School.
