John Joseph Robbins, 85, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020. He was born March 24, 1935 at Arthurdale, WV, a son of the late James Minor Robbins and Ava Grace Matthews Robbins.
John is survived by his son, James Allen (Tammy) Robbins of Farmington, WV, his daughter, Janet Ann Robbins and her significant other Jeffery Roupe of Fairmont, WV, five grandchildren, Joshua Adam Robbins, Daniel Wyatt Robbins, Hannah Beth Robbins, Patrick John Edward Allen, Matthew James Thomas Allen, his sister Louise Browning of Lakeport, CA, his brother James Robert Cordell of Lakeport, CA and his significant other, Marlene Martello.
He was preceded in death by six siblings and his foster parents, Daniel and Mary Cordell.
John was a veteran, having served his country in the US Navy. He was a bus driver in California and Arizona. He was employed at General Electric as a technician and retiring with 25 years of service. He worked for Contractors Chemical as a security guard. He was Pentecostal by Faith and was an avid steel guitar player at his church and at the Sagebrush Roundup.
There will be a visitation held at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington on Wednesday, July 15, from 10:30 to 12:15. A committal service will be held at 1:30 pm at The WV National Cemetery in Grafton with Pastor Joseph Palmer officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the US Navy and the Marion County Veterans Council. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, facemask will be required at the cemetery.
