Son of James and Lillian Rogers. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954 where he played football, basketball and baseball, and held the single-season record for the highest high school batting average in Georgia until the 1970’s. He served two years in the U.S. Army and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He then worked for textile companies all over the Southeast, eventually settling in Lilburn, GA where he retired from Coats America in 2000. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Buford. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy; and his great-granddaughter, Emery. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fran; son, Andy Rogers and his wife, Shelley, and grandchildren, Nate and Leila Rogers; daughter, Lee Axelberg and her husband, Brad, and grandchildren, Ansley Bourchier, and her husband, Dustin, Madison Ellis, and Kourtney, Olivia and Emma Axelberg; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha and Carson.
