She attended the Safe Harbor Church of God of Prophecy. She was retired from the Forsyth County Board of Education after 23 years of service as a bus driver. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Troy Sams; and brother, Michael Sams. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Fields; children, Amy (Stephen) Day, Troy (Ashley) Fields; her mother and step father, Vivian and Kenneth Newberry; grandchildren, Bentley Alan Day, Matthew Alan Fields; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Darrin (Lynn) Sams, Wayne (Bridget) Sams; and sister, Janice Grimes.
