Paul Edwin Brees, Sr. was born on Wednesday; March 14, 1923, in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He was one of five children born to Sereno and Lottie May (Moore) Brees. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School's Class of 1941. Paul was a mechanic in Marshalltown for many years, working at International Harvester, Ford and retiring from Harker's. He treasured his grandchildren who always brought a smile to him when they did something mischievous, a big piece of chocolate cake, the fall season and his Papillion dogs: Susie and Tammy. Paul enjoyed attending the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown.

Paul Edwin Brees, Sr. age 84, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away pm Friday morning; August 31, 2007 at his home while in care of his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 23 years: Darlene. His children: William & his wife: Kathy Brees, Sr., of Howell; Monmouth County, New Jersey. Sharon & her husband: Merlyn Newburg of Lincoln; Grundy County, Iowa and Paul E. Brees, Jr. of Grinnell; Poweshiek County, Iowa. Step-children: Mike Downs, Kathy Downs and Arthur "Sonny" Downs all of Marshalltown, Iowa. Bobby Downs of Fort Madison; Lee County, Iowa. Pamela & her husband: John Pelham of State Center; Marshall County, Iowa. Darla & her husband: Rick Coon of South Dakota and Joel & his wife: Anita Williams of Marshalltown, Iowa. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and eleven step-great-grandchildren. His brothers: Frank & his wife: Marilyn Brees of Marshalltown and Jim & his wife: Sally Brees of Detroit; Wayne County, Michigan. Several nieces, nephews, his dogs: Susie & Tammy and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, brother: Raymond and sister: Virginia Davis. May they rest in peace.
