Joel's business career included retail management in Kansas and Arizona. He worked many years for Wells Fargo, and most recently as an express medical courier. Joel enjoyed reading, golf, tennis, and running. He had a high acumen for sports statistics. There were several years many of his siblings joined him in running the FHSU Alumni Homecoming 5k!
Joel was known for his dry sense of humor but, will be especially remembered for his kind, generous heart and devotion to family. He willingly served as the primary caregiver for his older brother for several years. He is missed by his brothers: David of Aurora, Colorado, Greg (Gloria) of Weskan, Kansas, Jamie (Mary) of Topeka, Kansas, Mark (Val) of Westminster, Colorado, and Phillip (Terry) of Aurora, Colorado; his sisters, Ruth (David) Heffel of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Sheryl (Leslie) Rogers of McCracken, Kansas, and Sharon (John) Irvin also of McCracken, Kansas; and also his many nieces and nephews, and friends. Joel was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hays, Kansas. Memorial donations in Joel's name are suggested to the American Heart Association or a charity of the your choosing.
