He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on May 6, 1938 to parents John and Frances Henry.
Johnnie received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas. He enjoyed a 30 year career as a Civil Engineer and as the State Design Engineer for the Soil Conservation Service.
He also served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church for 53 years.
Johnnie enjoyed sports and worked on the NLR High School chain crew for over 40 years. He loved traveling with his friends on trips around the world but he especially enjoyed following his grandkids across the country for soccer and baseball games; he never missed an opportunity to see them play.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Henry; mother, Frances Rodieck Henry; sister, Phyllis Ellison and nephew, Gary Ellison.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Linda Alexander Henry of NLR; son, David (Pam) Henry of Conway; daughter, Diane (Russ) Moore of Maumelle; grandchildren Jakob Henry, Abbey Moore and Zachary Moore; nephews, Frank Ellison and Mark Ellison and his niece, Phyllis Escalante.
A private family funeral service will be held.
