CATLIN , Rebecca REBECCA VAUGHAN GRAHAM CATLIN, a loving mother, dear friend, caring and compassionate human being, known to many as "Rebie" or "Reba", died peacefully in Houston, Texas on the 3rd of December, 2008, from complications of pneumonia. She was born in Goshen, Virginia on the 24th of December, 1924, the daughter of Andrew DeWitt Graham and Rebecca Pocahontas Vaughan. Rebie attended Farmville State Teacher's College (now Longwood) in Virginia and the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD where she received her R.N. in 1947. She married Dr. Francis Irving Catlin on June 11, 1948. Rebie was very active at St. Francis Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and several study groups. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a 9th generation descendent of Pocahontas. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Francis Irving Catlin M.D.; her sons: Robert Irving Catlin II and wife Pamela, and Andrew Evans Catlin and wife Irene; her daughter: Martha Pocahontas Vaughan Catlin White and husband Craig. She is also survived by two grandchildren: James Francis Catlin and Gretchen Meriwether Catlin; and her brother Joseph Beard Graham and her brother-in-law, the Rev. Roy Winchester Coker and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville, Virginia on Saturday January 24, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. with the Pastor Jason Whitener officiating. A private interment in Church Hill, Maryland will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
