Opal Bell Knoch Shirk, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:35 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. She was born July 31, 1916, in Duchouquet Township, Auglaize County, the daughter of Tena A. (Whetstone) and George Bowersock, who preceded her in death. On July 31, 1936 she married Melvin l. "Cherry" Knoch, and he died Feb. 21, 1972. On July 27, 1974 she married Robert L. "Bob" Shirk, and he died Sept. 20, 1982.

Mrs. Shirk is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Harley, Dewey, Archie, Delmar, Otis, and Ivan; and three sisters, Lula Armentrout, Jessie Garee, and Ruby Glasco.
A homemaker, Mrs. Shirk was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, where she was active with its adult choir.

A 1935 graduate of Cridersville High School, her hobbies included gardening and working in her yard.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Salem United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Gregory Roberts officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
