Note about the monument:
Heroic Women's Monument Moore's Creek National Battlefield Currie, North Carolina This monument on the battlefield honors the Women of the Lower Cape Fear Region who contributed to the Patriot cause. It was erected in 1907, and Ezekiel and Mary Hooks Slocumb were re-interred at its base - their grave markers are in the foreground. It is believed to be the only monument in America to 18th century women and their sacrifices during the American Revolution.
