Nelson Causey, 74, of Meadville, died July 12, 2005, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Services were 10 a.m. today at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Thomas Griffin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.

Mr. Causey was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Franklin County to Preston and Rosa Rushing Causey. He was retired from International Paper Co. in Natchez, where he worked for 43 years. He was a member and deacon of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Causey was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell and Lonnie; a sister, Dixie Knapp; and his half-brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Seyfarth Causey; four sons, Dr. Jim Causey and wife Marion of Ripley, Tenn., John Allen Causey of Canton, Preston Ellis Causey and Matthew Grant Causey, all of Meadville; a daughter, Shelby Causey of Meadville; four grandchildren, Jason, Lucas and Jonathan Causey, and Nicholas Dunn; a special niece, Rose Knapp Campbell and her husband Melvin of Natchez; a special nephew, Lonnie Causey and his wife Kathy of Geismar, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
