(Excerpts from Centenarians of Oklahoma Biography)
Anna Gertrude Ingram was born November 10, 1916 in Coweta, Oklahoma; one of ten children born to William David Ingram and Julia Clara (Mitchell) Ingram. Her father helped build the Missouri-Kentucky-Tennessee Railroad. Anna graduated from Coweta High School. She met Dennis M. Kerr at a Fourth of July Festival in Coweta Park. They were married June 16, 1932. Dennis worked as a sheet metal worker for Spartan Aircraft. Anna and Dennis enjoyed 55 years together and were blessed with seven children, 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren. Anna spent her life as a homemaker and a mother. She was a member of the Aspen Park Baptist Church. Her favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art". She taught Bible School for 65 years, retiring when she was 96 years old. She made mission trips to Brazil, Nevada, Montana and to an Apache Indian Reservation. She enjoyed gardening to raise vegetables for the family table. She also loved to sew, read and write and read poetry. Her favorite holiday was Easter, because that was when she accepted Christ as her Savior. A favorite childhood memory was her recovery from the measles and being allowed to go outside for the first time. She sat on the porch, looking at the apple orchard and cool breeze brought the scent of the apple blossoms to her. She said just the memory of it always warmed her heart.
Anna left us with these words of wisdom: "Believe in God; do not fret and worry; keep good physical health; eat good foods; have a positive outlook on life and use God's word as an absolute authority over your life. "
Anna was inducted into the Oklahoma Centenarian Hall of Fame on the occasion of her 103rd Birthday Celebration.
